We started Night Heron Winery with the 2005 harvest. This retirement hobby has proved to be very rewarding - so much so that we have built a small winery under our house - complete with a lab bench where we do the chemical tests on our wine.
The night heron is a local bird that resides on our street in the winter months. A friend designed our label which has won an honorable mention award in "Winemaker Magazine".
In 2005 we made Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot - both from Monterey County. Our 2006 grapes came from Monterey county (Sauvignon Blanc) and from Santa Maria (Petite Sirah) which is just South of Monterey County.
We are members of the Central Coast Home Winemakers, American Institute of Wine and Food, and W.I.N.O.(Wine Investigation for Novices and Oenophiles.
Our wine is not for sale, but we do enjoy sharing it with our friends.
